Dances of Universal Peace … connecting hearts around the world ...

“[The] Dances do a magnificent job of bringing joy to people. A lot of religious practice does not do that, unfortunately; some of it does, [and] the Dances do. Singing and moving together allows for that experience. [Especially] because of the musical help, it works very well.”

--Wali Ali Meyer, director of the Esoteric School of the SRI

The next Dance meeting will take place on Saturday evening, July 6th, at the Unitarian-Universalist Church in the Hillcrest neighborhood of San Diego. See the San Diego Dance Circle page for details. Beginning in August, the circle will meet on the SECOND rather than the FIRST Saturday night of the month.

The Dances of Universal Peace are heart opening, joyous and meditative circle dances that embody chants, mantras and sacred phrases from spiritual traditions around the world.  The dances are a form of body prayer that blends these phrases and mantras with music and simple movements to inspire and awaken participants, ultimately helping to develop peace that surpasses understanding.

The traditions honored by these joyous and heartfelt dances include Buddhist, Celtic, Christian, Goddess, Hindu, Islamic, Jewish, Native American, Sufi, Universalist, and Zoroastrian.

No musical or dance experience of any kind is required; the dances are all taught as if it were the first time you’d encountered them. Everyone is welcome to join in.
